C276 Introduction

Super alloys or high performance alloys are available in a variety of shapes and contain elements in different combinations to obtain a specific result. These alloys are of three types that include iron-based, cobalt-based and nickel-based alloys. The ickel-based and cobalt-based super alloys are available as cast or wrought based alloys according to composition and application.
Super alloys have good oxidation and creep resistance and can be strengthened by precipitation hardening, solid-solution hardening and work hardening methods. They can also function under high mechanical stress and high temperatures and also in places that require high surface stability. HASTELLOY(r) C276 is a wrought corrosion-resistant alloy that resists the development of grain boundary precipitates that degrade corrosion resistance.

C276 Forging Technology Threaded Coupling Introduction

The forged threaded double-joint pipe clamp is a type of pipe connection accessory. It achieves the connection of two pipes by means of the threaded ends, providing a tight seal without the need for welding. It is suitable for pipe systems that require frequent disassembly or high-pressure sealing. 

1.Core features

High-strength pressure resistance: Made through forging process, the material has a dense molecular structure without air holes or cracks, and its pressure resistance far exceeds that of cast pipe clamps. It can be adapted to high-pressure working conditions of over 20 MPa. Sealing reliability: Both ends use high-precision threads (such as RC/PT/ZG/NPT, etc.), combined with sealing gaskets or conical seals, ensuring no leakage at the connection point and suitable for various media such as liquids and gases. Installation convenience: Threaded connection does not require welding, with high construction efficiency, easy disassembly and maintenance, and suitable for later adjustments of complex pipelines. Manufacturing process Using high-quality carbon steel, stainless steel or alloy steel round bars as raw materials, they are heated and forged into shape → precision turning on a lathe → heat treatment (stress relief/quenching and tempering) → pressure test. The entire process adopts CNC processing technology, ensuring thread accuracy (6g/6h grade) and dimensional tolerance (outer diameter ±0.1mm), in line with standards such as GB/T14626, ASME B16.11, etc.

2. Specifications and Materials

Specifications: Covers DN6 (1/4 inch) to DN100 (4 inches), the mainstream range is DN15-DN50 (4/4 inch - 2 inches), and non-standard customization is supported. Materials: Carbon steel (for general industrial use), stainless steel (for corrosive environments), alloy steel (for extreme working conditions with high temperature and pressure).

3.Application Scenarios

It is widely used in scenarios such as petrochemical industry, gas transportation, fire protection systems, building water supply and drainage, mechanical equipment hydraulic/cooling systems, etc. It is particularly suitable for pipe connections in high-pressure, frequently vibrating or frequently disassembled environments.

1. Raw material pre-treatment

Select high-quality carbon steel (Q235/20#), stainless steel (304/316), or alloy steel (12CrMo/20CrMo) round bars. Cut them into blanks according to the target specifications, leaving a 10%-15% forging allowance for size, ensuring precise dimensions after forming.

2. Forging Process (Core Step)

Heating: Heat the billet to the forging temperature (carbon steel 1150-1250℃, stainless steel 1050-1150℃) using a temperature measuring instrument for precise control to prevent damage to material properties.

Forging: Use free forging or die forging techniques, and apply pressure or water pressure machines to repeatedly forge the billet in multiple stages to shape it into a pipe blank. During the forging process, the billet needs to be turned over multiple times to ensure uniform thickness of the interface walls at both ends, alignment of the material fibers with the direction of force application, elimination of internal pores and shrinkage defects, and improvement of the pressure-bearing performance.

3. Fine Machining of Threads and Dimensions

Coarse-cutting of interfaces: Use a lathe to remove the forging excess and initially shape the contours of both interface ends, ensuring the concentricity of the interfaces (tolerance ≤ 0.05mm).

Fine-cutting of threads: Use a CNC lathe in conjunction with high-precision thread cutting tools to perform thread cutting on the interfaces, supporting standards such as RC, PT, ZG, and NPT, with thread precision reaching 6g/6h level, ensuring the sealing performance of the connection.

Fine-tuning of dimensions: Fine-cut the outer diameter and length of the pipe to ensure that the dimensional tolerances comply with standards (outer diameter ± 0.1mm, length ± 0.5mm).

4. Heat Treatment for Enhancing Properties

Select the process based on the material and working conditions:

Strain relief annealing: After low-temperature heating (500-600°C for carbon steel, 800-850°C for stainless steel), slow cooling is performed to eliminate internal stresses from forging and processing, preventing subsequent deformation and cracking.

Quenching + tempering: For alloy steel or products under high-pressure conditions, quenching (water or oil cooling above the critical temperature) is done first to increase hardness, followed by tempering (500-650°C) to eliminate brittleness and enhance fatigue resistance and toughness.

5. Quality Inspection and Packaging

Appearance inspection: Check for surface cracks, burrs, and the integrity of the threads.

Dimensional inspection: Use calipers, thread gauges, and three-coordinate measuring instruments to detect accuracy.

Performance inspection: Hydraulic test (1.5 times working pressure, maintaining pressure for 30 minutes without leakage or deformation), some products may require ultrasonic testing (to detect internal defects).

Packaging: Qualified products are treated for rust prevention, vacuum-packed and placed in wooden boxes or iron drums, with specifications, materials, and standard information marked.
