C276 Introduction

Super alloys or high performance alloys are available in a variety of shapes and contain elements in different combinations to obtain a specific result. These alloys are of three types that include iron-based, cobalt-based and nickel-based alloys. The nickel-based and cobalt-based super alloys are available as cast or wrought based alloys according to composition and application.
Super alloys have good oxidation and creep resistance and can be strengthened by precipitation hardening, solid-solution hardening and work hardening methods. They can also function under high mechanical stress and high temperatures and also in places that require high surface stability. HASTELLOY(r) C276 is a wrought corrosion-resistant alloy that resists the development of grain boundary precipitates that degrade corrosion resistance.

C276 Forging Technology Socket Welding Tee Introduction

A Socket Weld Tee, also known as a socket weld tee fitting, is a high-pressure pipe connection component manufactured using round steel or steel ingots through die-forging and machining on a lathe. It is used in piping systems to achieve a“one-pipe-to-two-branches” configuration. Its core structure includes three ports: one main pipe port and two branch pipe ports, all of which utilize socket weld connections. Unlike ordinary threaded tees or butt-welded tees, the ports of a Socket Weld Tee are designed in a “socket” form, allowing pipes to be directly inserted into the sockets and then secured via welding to form a tight, sealed connection. It is primarily used in high-pressure precision fields such as petrochemicals, power generation, aerospace, and defense industries. Its manufacturing processes include hot pressing, radial compression, and branch pipe stretching, differing from the metal compensation method used in hydraulic forming processes.

Forged Socket Weld Fittings Tees are categorized into two types based on structure: equal tee and reducing tee. Sizes range from DN6 to DN100, with common sizes being DN15 to DN50. Materials include carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy steel. Pressure ratings include 3000LB, 6000LB, and SCH80. The product complies with the American Standard ASME B16.11. Contact us

Manufacturing combines metallurgical precision and advanced machining: 

1. Material Selection: Forging-grade billets meeting ASTM composition limits are heated to 2150°F.

2.Hot Forging: Using closed-die presses at controlled temperatures, the tee shape is formed through plastic deformation under >20,000 psi pressure – optimizing grain flow and fatigue resistance. 

3.Solution Annealing: Austenitic steels/alloys undergo rapid quenching to dissolve carbides and restore corrosion resistance. Post-anneal hardness must maintain ASTM max limits. 

4.Machining: CNC lathes precisely bore sockets, ensuring exact tolerances (±0.005") and surface finishes (Ra ≤ 3.2 μm) necessary for pipe fit-up. 

5.Surface Treatment: Pickling/passivation (ASTM A380) removes iron contamination while oxidizing chromium to enhance the corrosion barrier in stainless grades. 

6.Final QC: Hydrostatic testing to 1.5x rated pressure, dimensional validation, NDE for defects.
